My Top 20 Analog Photography Images of 2024
The year 2024 was… strange in many ways. Auroras, comets, earthquakes in New Jersey. The potential end to America. A lot of ups and downs.
My film photography work was no different. Earlier in the year, much of my work was personal, based around family: capturing memories and making small prints for archiving.
My other work was a bit of a roller coaster: dialing in film stocks I want to work with, sorting out my gear to optimize what I need for what I’m shooting, and general experimentation with translating the look I want into presets for my digital work.
The first half of the year felt like a slump, and I couldn’t break out of it until I traveled for a week to Lake George, NY, to relax with family and ground my work back to basics.
This year's big win was seeing my style develop and noticing patterns in my work, enabling it to become a cohesive collection. The angles I shoot at, the subjects I’m drawn to, and the look and feel of the images themselves. Even with the bad start to the year and the feeling of flailing, overall, things worked out.
While browsing Reddit, many people posted their top work of the year. As it is always a good exercise, I started chronologically culling my year's worth of photos into the top 20.
As always, if you want to get in contact with me, the following places are the best:
